Warangal: Four students from Telangana state have been selected for the Veer Gatha 3.0 award, meant for those whose creative work like painting or poetry best disseminated the stories of bravery of heroic personalities and the gallantry medal awardees. Besides, Pendyala Laxmi Priya of Telangana won the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar for children with exceptional abilities and outstanding achievements. The winners of the Veer Gatha 3.0 award were: Akuthota Harichandana, Class 10 student of Sujatha Vidyaniketan English Medium High School in Hasanparthy mandal of Hanamkonda district; Jainil Parmar of Neelkanth Vidyapeeth Residential School at Majeedpur of Rangareddy district and Donkeshwar Vaishnav, Howard Public School, Himayatnagar (all for painting) and Kasani Keerthi Prasanna, ZPHS, Upparpally, for poetry. Harichandana won the award for her painting titled ‘Rani Lakshmibai Came in My Dream. She wanted me to serve our Nation’. School principal Shantaram Karuna and vice-principal Lakshmi Narayana congratulated Harichandana on her achievement. The winners of the Veer Gatha 3.0 will be presented the award and a cash prize of Rs 10,000 during the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi. Project ‘Veer Gatha’, a joint initiative of the defence and education ministries as part of Republic Day celebrations, saw approximately 1.37 crore students from around 2.43 lakh schools participate in the initiative, with 100 winners being selected at the national level. President Droupadi Murmu will present the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar to 19 children for their exceptional achievements, an official statement said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with the award winners on Tuesday. The children, comprising nine boys and 10 girls, hail from 18 states and Union Territories. The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar is given in six categories — art and culture (seven), bravery (one), innovation (one), science and technology (one), social service (four), and sports (five), the statement said.
