AMRITSAR/CHANDIGARH: Punjab Shiv Sena leader Sudhir Suri was shot dead by unidentified people in Punjab’s Amritsar on Friday, police said.
The incident took place outside a temple in the city where Suri and some other leaders of the party were holding a protest, they said.
After Suri was shot at, he was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, police officials told ANI. The accused has been arrested and his weapons recovered, they said.
“Sudhir Suri was shot outside Gopal Mandir, Amritsar during some agitation. He sustained bullet injuries and was rushed to hospital and died. The accused has been arrested. His weapons are recovered,” Arun Pal Singh, Commissioner of Police, Amritsar told ANI.
