NEW DELHI: In a no holds barred attack on the ruling BJP at the Centre, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that the BJP-Sangh leaders are dividing the country and deliberately creating fear and hatred.

While addressing the ‘Mehngai par halla bol’ rally on Sunday in Ramlila Maidan here, Rahul Gandhi said that since the BJP government came to power at the Centre, hatred and anger have been increasing in the country.

Two industrialists are benefitting from the hate, and fear that has been prevailing in the country. The BJP is working for their benefit, Rahul added.

“Three black farm laws were brought in not to help farmers, but to benefit these 2-3 industrialists,” he said.

The country’s situation is such that even if it wants, it cannot give jobs to its youth, Rahul noted.

The Congress leader said that the Opposition has no other way but to go to the people as all the institutions are under duress.

He said, “Bharat Jodo Yatra” is being undertaken because the media is not with us, and other institutions are under pressure from the government. So the opposition has no way but to directly go to the people and tell them the truth about the government.”

He reiterated that the opposition was not allowed to speak in Parliament on the issues concerning the people. In an unveiled attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said, “I want to tell him that this country is not of two of your friends, but of the poor people of India.”

The Congress leader said that the UPA governments at the Centre lifted 27 crore people from poverty and this government has pushed them again into poverty. Rahul Gandhi compared the current petroleum prices with those in the UPA regime.

He said that the people are facing lots of hardships, and when the Opposition tries to raise their voice in Parliament, the Modi govt does not allow it.

There is pressure on institutions such as the media, judiciary and Election Commission. The government is attacking all of them, he said.

“‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ is important as we have to go directly to people and tell them the truth,” he emphasized.

“Anyone who criticizes Modi is targeted and made to sit for 55 hours at the ED office. But I want to tell PM, I am not scared of your ED,” Rahul affirmed.
