The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has revealed that 98.12 per cent of the Rs 2000 denomination notes in circulation as of May 19, 2023, have been returned to the banking system. This comes after the RBI’s announcement in May regarding the withdrawal of the ₹2000 notes from circulation, marking a significant milestone in the currency transition process.
