Raipur: Five students, including three girls, of Class eight had planted an explosive in the washroom of their school in Bilaspur city, nearly 120 km from here, to target a female teacher against whom they nurtured some kind of grudge, police said on Tuesday.A Class IV girl student, who was not the intended victim, was injured when she used the flush triggering the blast, police said.The incident took place in a local private school in Bilaspur city on February 21.Police cracked the case by identifying the five students after examining the footage of the CCTV camera in the school.“Police learnt about the role of the five students in the incident during the investigation and examination of the footage of the CCTV camera. Four of them were detained”, Bilaspur district superintendent of police (SP) Rajneesh Singh said.The fifth student involved in the incident had gone to visit his relatives and could not be detained so far, police said.The four students were later produced in the juvenile court which sent them to the juvenile home.According to him, the five students planted the explosive, made of sodium metal.The students watched an online video to learn how the sodium metal could trigger an explosion when it came in contact with water, the police officer said.The sodium metal was placed at the outlet of the cistern in the washroom by the students, he added.But the Class IV girl student fell victim to the trap, laid by them, unknowingly, police said.The teachers who were busy conducting examinations in the school rushed to the washroom after hearing the loud explosion and found the girl lying in a pool of blood, according to the police.
