Hyderabad: Despite investigating several suspects in the murder of a woman in Kukatpally, the police are yet to identify the main accused. On February 15, a woman’s body was found in a decomposed state in Kaithalapur, Kukatpally.Cyberabad police said they investigated several people suspected of involvement in the murder; however, no strong clues were found. The body had been decomposing for about a week when it was discovered. Police said that even taking the fingerprints of the deceased did not prove to be effective. It was after verifying different CCTV footage that the police could identify the woman. The woman is known to be working as a labourer in the nearby area. After a relative found a picture of the deceased in the newspaper and informed the family, they contacted the police, who then identified the woman. The body was found in a mutilated condition with her head desecrated from the body. Several other parts of the body were injured and decomposed. The police are investigating further to trace and nab the accused.Cops intervene as Ugandans clash with house ownerHyderabad: Rajendranagar experienced tense moments after a confrontation between three Ugandans and a few locals residents in Upparpally on Wednesday night. According to Rajendranagar inspector K. Kastro, the dispute started between the house owner and the Ugandans living in the rented apartment. As the argument escalated, a “Dial 100” call was made, prompting police to intervene. The inspector said that a neighbour had falsely accused the Ugandan woman of drug use and illegal activities.However, upon investigation, no evidence was found, and the woman’s documents were found to be legitimate. No formal case was filed.Man arrested for hoax bomb threat at Ashok hotelHyderabad: A bomb threat to a hotel in front of Secunderabad railway station early on Thursday was found to be hoax. Police identified the caller and arrested him.According to the police, a man dialed 100 and informed them that a bomb has been planted at a hotel opposite to Secunderabad railway station and would explode any moment. The main police control room (PCR) operator immediately alerted the Market police and later the call was immediately forwarded to Gopalpuram police station.“The caller dialed 100 at 1 am informed that a bomb is planted at Ashok hotel in Rezimental Bazaar and would explode any moment. We rushed to the scene along with BD sniffer dog and CLUES teams and thoroughly searched the hotel premises and the call turned out to be a hoax,” SHO Gopalapuram B. Naresh said.“Our IT teams traced and identified the caller through his mobile location and arrested him in the early hours of Thursday,” Naresh said. The SHO further said, “The caller has been identified as Mir Mois, a native of Peddapalli. He works as a labourer and sleeps on the footpaths.”“Our teams also contacted his family members in Peddapalli who informed that he was undergoing treatment for mental illness. He has been threatening his family members and earlier he misled Asifnagar police stating that there was a bomb planted at a public place and that also turned out to be a hoax call. We are doing a background check and will act as per law,” the SHO further added.Juvenile convicted for rape of minorHyderabad: A juvenile was on Thursday convicted for kidnap and rape of a minor girl by the fifth additional chief metropolitan magistrate (ACJM), Nampally. The court sentenced him to community service at a special home in Gajularamam every second Saturday and Sunday starting from March 8.Judge T. Madhavi also ordered him to pay compensation of `55,000 to the victim under Section 33(8) read with rule 9 of the POCSO Act. The accused was booked under Sections 366 (Kidnapping), 376 (2) (rape), and sections 5 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. A case was registered against him at the Tukaram gate police station following a complaint by the victim’s mother in December 2021. According to police reports, the juvenile had lured the 16-year-old girl, under the pretext of marriage. He took her to a rented room in Gandi Maisamma, and sexually assaulted her on numerous occasions after he forced her stay with him.During investigation, it was revealed that the two were in contact since January 2020.4 steal mobile from mug maker Hyderabad: Four people on two motorcycles snatched a mobile from a mug maker as he was heading home at Banjara Hills early on Thursday.According to Banjara Hills police, the victim, Anasarul Rahman, 45, was riding home with two friends on separate bikes at around 2 am after finishing his work. They were on their way to his residence in Syednagar.The incident occurred near Abdullah bakery in Syednagar when the four suspects blocked Rahman’s path. One of the pillion riders then snatched his mobile. The culprits fled into nearby narrow lanes, police said.Following Rahman’s complaint, police have filed a case and are trying to identify and nab the culprits.Cyber fraudsters dupe city man of Rs.5, 81,506Hyderabad: A 58-year-old man from Secunderabad, who has taken insurance policies, was duped by fraudsters of Rs.5, 81,606.In his complaint with the city cybercrime unit (CCCU), the victim stated that he had received a call from a fraudster claiming to be a representative from the Integrated Grievance Management System (IGMS), who assured to refund his amount, a CCCU official said.Subsequently, he was asked to deposit five per cent of the said amount into an NPCI services account. The victim made payment using an SBI credit card.An ‘accountant’ from NPCI then contacted the victim, providing further assurances and guarantees regarding the payment. Following this, the fraudsters demanded an additional amount to release the victim’s payment.After several follow-up calls, and payments to the overall tune of Rs.5, 81,606. Realising that he had been duped, he approached the CCCU and lodged a complaint.Two juveniles convicted in rape case Hyderabad: A Nampally court on Thursday convicted two juveniles in a rape case involving a 14-year-old girl. Fifth Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate T. Madhavi sentenced them to perform community service at the Juvenile Justice Board premises every second Monday and Tuesday from March 10, under Section 18(1)(c) of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act. She also ordered a compensation of `55,000 to the victim. The case was registered at Tukaram Gate Police Station following a complaint by the victim’s mother. The police booked multiple charges under Sections 366(A), 376(AB), 376(2)(n) and 506 of the IPC, along with Sections 5 read with 6 and 17 of the Pocso Act. According to the police, the girl was reported missing in September 2023. Investigations revealed she had been repeatedly assaulted by two juveniles and two adults. One of the juveniles had lured her in the name of love. On September 9, 2023, they left together, and he sexually assaulted her. The two travelled to Warangal, Mantralayam and Karnataka before being brought to Secunderabad. Further investigations found that the victim was also assaulted by her cousin and two adults. Among them, Shaik Jahangir allegedly raped her multiple times, while one Poonala Chandramma facilitated the assaults in exchange for money. All four accused were arrested in September 2023. While the two juveniles have been convicted, the trial of the two adults is still pending.Fraudster dupes lady doctor of Rs.10.94LHyderabad: A 31-year-old doctor from Jubilee Hills was cheated out of `10.94 lakh by a fraudster posing as a doctor in Chicago. The victim, employed at a private hospital in Gachibowli, had recently registered on a popular online matrimony site. The organisers shared the details of a man named Harsha Chekuri with her.According to police sources, the woman contacted Harsha and they began communicating via WhatsApp chats and video calls from January 30. In her complaint to Jubilee Hills police, she stated that Harsha introduced himself as a doctor at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago.Over time, he convinced her that his bank accounts had been frozen by the IT department and his mother would soon be visiting India to finalise their wedding plans. He then demanded Rs.10 lakh and threatened to make her videos go viral on social media if she refused.After extorting Rs.10.94 lakh, the accused demanded another Rs.10 lakh. By then,the victim realised she was being blackmailed and filed a complaint with the Jubilee Hills police. A case has been registered and police are tracking the accused through the matrimony platform.
